Let's just assume that you're the program director or general manager of a radio station. Could be you are.
"Well, good advice is expensive," you say to yourself. Taking your courage into both hands, you hire a radio consultant - possibly one from abroad. And then you find out that they cost a lot of money, sell a lot of hot air and maybe know even less than you do.
"But, they're not all like that," you reason. Apparently, there are even Germans with a sense of humor. And certainly, there are consultants who know what they're talking about when you talk radio - but just where?
Let's just take Patrick Lynen and Lynen Media GmbH as a random example (and because is Lynen Media's website):

Our consultants know exactly what you're talking about,
whenever you talk television or radio. That's why they
became coaches instead of consultants. Because coaches are
partners - not eternal know-it-alls. And, they bring out the
best in a team and a station. And because - especially the
best need a coach.
How often in everyday life do we experience that individual
team members were and are phenomenal experts? But - the
overall strategy - the goal - was missing.
Almost all broadcasters receive the same news, weather
reports and traffic information. They have similarly
talented suppliers of contributions and their employees have
approximately the same educational background. It's the
general strategy that helps a station achieve a prominent
image and with that, higher image values, market shares and
permanence.

Our coaches take part in conferences, teach "on the job",
"live" radio with heart and soul. And they come from THE top
radio stations in Germany. Practically-minded, they are the
top professionals who have never lost touch to their grass
roots. Coaching your radio personalities and management in
this connection is one of our great strengths. We call it "help
for self-help". And, we like to make ourselves redundant
after a while…
Market research, music research and format of course have
their place, but are not allowed to block extra-ordinary
personalities and ideas. Our consultants coach the morning
show, making a competitive analysis at the same time, give
important impulses at the morning conference, develop ideas
for new campaigns with your program planners and coach your
moderators in the afternoon. Discussion value, usefulness,
newsworthiness and entertainment value are of major
importance to us. |

Skillfully combined building blocks (moderation,
on-the-air-promotion, contributions, packaging, campaigns,
promotions) produce an emotional sensitivity, recognized
subliminally as such by the listener, which define the
all-decisive emotional product benefit in the market. The
station becomes home - and that, independent of the music
format's targets. Here, individual factors make a large
difference, but the main message comes through in the
general statement. Great moderators, special ideas and
unique campaigns, planned in detail, define a modern and
finely-tuned program.
We are only too happy to repeat it - almost all of our
client stations have gained - sometimes a little, a medium
amount or very (very) much. References are available in a
personal discussion.
Doers, practitioners and strategists of the national radio
league supply you with up-to-date know-how, create ideas,
coach your employees and create a brand product with a
long-term perspective.
Patrick Lynen and the Lynen Media team have been
developing extremely successful media strategies for years.
They act as consultants to media companies, coach several
television and radio broadcasting stations, place moderators
and media specialists in jobs as well as train them.
